Advertisers shun print for online formats
April 5th, 2006
An interesting new statistic & another boost to those looking to build a site for their business-and indeed an big incentive for those who hadn’t been looking to start thinking seriously about an online prescence.
Internet advertising grew almost two-thirds last year & was the only advertising medium to record positive growth in the UK. Total UK online advertising spend for 2005 has surpassed all initial expectations, growing a massive 65 % from around £825million to £1.3billion.
Internet advertising’s market share is now up to 7.8% & could break the £2billion barrier in 2006 according to Guy Philipson, chief executive of the Internet Advertising Bureau’s bi-annual study which is carried out in partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). The online advertising market would be bigger than adverts placed in the national press for the first time if this “real possibility” is achieved.

British Retail Consortium
March 16th, 2006
I’ve been meaning to comment on this but have only just got round to it-I had an opportunity to redesign the site a bit and to integrate some new systems with Wordpress 2.0.2-both of which are on a test bed now-more news on that to come when I get back from a weekend in Oslo.
In the meantime the British Retail Consortium gave the following press release….- British Retail Consortium - - News

Another change….
March 8th, 2006
Much as I love Phu Ly’s Bosa theme I had a couple of really pretty small problems with it. To be honest I really could have spent a little time on it, and I really don’t mean hours, to customise it but I just haven’t the time. I really like a calendar on my pages-just a personal thing nothing else-and I had a couple of personal preferences on some of the layout/styling which the more I looked, the more they bugged me. As I said it’s easily fixed-but I just found it easier to change to Sreejith’s lightCms which you can find on GFXedit Read the rest of this entry »
Personal DNA
March 8th, 2006
I’d done this kind of personality test before-and wouldn’t you know-they all tell me different things-I guess somewhere in the middle I’ll find myself….. For what it’s worth, if you’re bored and want to have a laugh at me (sniff sniff) have a shufty at my “personality report”, what they thinks I am today anyway look at my Personal Dna Report
I’m not sure I agree with all of it-some of it is definitely me-some of it is definitely not. I don’t think I’m in denial about myself (probably the opposite and over analyse the last year or two!) but I’d suggest that your “characteristics” can change on a daily basis depending Read the rest of this entry »
A few changes….
March 6th, 2006
Any observant regular visitors will have noticed that this “Articles” part of the sites has gone through a few changes over the last couple of weeks. Some of them have been obvious-and some of them have been more subtle background changes-I’d be surprised if even the most observant will have spotted these as they were unapologetically backend changes aimed at making my life easier. It’s also one of the reasons why no new articles have been published in the last couple of week (tame excuse I know!)
We’ve gone through a couple of new looks. The first was the lovingly home baked “Pancake Day”, Read the rest of this entry »
Does your Business Need a Site?
February 17th, 2006
Does your businesses need a website? If your business is booming from recommendations, you can’t keep up with demand as it is and you don’t want to grow the business more or take on more staff, then you may not need a website. But for many there are any number of reasons why a website is an essential tool. That said even if you are rushed off your feet and can’t cope-perhaps you need a website even more-to save you time, take your bookings and to keep down costs.
What are the advantages of selling online? With an online store you can sell your products or services 24 hours a day using a fully automated store that accepts credit cards, customers don’t have to queue for (let alone leave home!), that doesn’t get too busy, take breaks or have health & safety or personnel issues! Unlike an office a website is never closed, or engaged, and contact details are always available whenever a customer decides they need them. Unlike a “High Street” shop-overheads, both fixed and variable, can be so much lower they’re hardly even comparable. Read the rest of this entry »
